Speakers hints.....
Public Liability insurance
If I was a ‘stand alone’speaker with no equipment, I might feel quite resentful having to shell out for Public Liability insurance. However, I have a laptop, a projector and a PA system – all with trailing cables.
Lets face it, some of the venues we visit don’t have the electric plugs exactly where they can be easily accessed and you can end up with extension cables snaking across quite an expanse of floor. Fine whilst everybody is sitting in their seats listening to you, but afterwards, once people are wondering around with cups of tea or glasses of wine, these cables can be an accident waiting to happen. Always try to get trailing cables cleared up immediately you’ve finished speaking as someone tripping over would be an unfortunate way to finish your evening – not to mention the possibility of a public liability claim against you.
A few insurers will add this cover to your home insurance policy and if you can persuade them to do this, it is by far the cheapest option. However, if your insurers won’t add this additional cover for you, then you’ll need to consider a separate Public Liability policy.
My company, Pennington Insurance Brokers was founded in 1969 and one of our directors, Simon Etchells can arrange a Public Liability policy for Public Speakers which will include accidental damage to your equipment. If you’d like to speak to Simon about your insurance requirements telephone: 0121 557 6728 or visit the website Pennington Insurance Brokers. |
