Any Old Iron
Arthur Callahan an American, wearing trainers, light cotton trousers and a T-shirt walked through the metal detector at Memphis airport and set the alarms going. This didn't happen just once, it became a regular occurrence and on at least one occasion the resultant panic by the security officials caused him to miss his plane. Eventually, it was discovered that poor Arthur's problem wasn't bungled attempts to smuggle arms but an undiagnosed case of 'iron overload' or to put it more grandly, haemochromatosis, a genetic condition only just becoming recognised by the medical profession. This talk is a light-hearted look at the effects of having too much iron in my body |
