Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
About me...

I have given my ‘music talks’ to lots of  U3A’s, Rotary Clubs WI’s, Lodges and sundry events and like to think that I offer something a little bit different.
From the feedback I have received, I know that members have always enjoyed themselves and have gone home with smiles on their faces!!
The fact that most of my engagements are either through recommendation or rebooking I think is an indication of their success!!

About my 'music-talks'...

I am a song-writing multi instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, tenor guitar, sitar, piano ….) and singer (!) and bring a car full of instruments to the meeting.I come totally self sufficient with my own pa system (for up to 500 people) and just require a table!!

Fee:

My fee is  from £75 + travel expenses

I live in the Midlands (Rugby, Warwickshire – post code CV21 3RR) but I travel the length and breadth of the country performing and so don’t feel you might be too far away….

LIFE IN THE MUSIC :

1.Andy-Smith

A journey through life featuring self-penned comedy songs and ballads played on a multitude of instruments…plus a few well known numbers… Also, I explain a bit about the instruments I have brought along and when time allows, I bring my home recording studio and demonstrate how a song is written and recorded.
With lots of amusing chat and nostalgic anecdotes, this has become a very popular talk.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE :

2.Andy-Smith

Following the success of my ‘Life in the Music’ talk, I was encouraged and flattered when asked to revisit many of my bookings with something similar.
My ‘second’ talk is called ‘Under the Influence’ and again featuring lots of instruments,
I sing a selection of different musical pieces which have shaped my repertoire, playing and life….and explain why!!
Lots of well known songs and a few of my own, plus some instrumental pieces to challenge your members knowledge of shows and soundtracks!!
I think this talk will be equally as popular and look forward to returning to lots of my previous U3A’s over the next couple of years.

SING A CENTURY :

My third talk features songs and instrumentals written and recorded over the last century.
Singing at least one song from each decade – the members can try and guess the year, the song, the artist, the musical……

There have been some amazing songs written since 1920 – and on this talk I feature some well known classics – plus a few long forgotten gems!!

Featured Talk - Launched 2016

JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE AND ME…:

My fourth talk celebrates the songs of three of the finest songwriters this country has ever produced. Featuring lots of their well known songs plus a few album tracks.
The Beatles have been my favourite band since I was 5 years old – and this is my homage to them.

Lots of 60’s nostalgia played on my collection of musical instruments.
