An Artist's Life
Not many people set out to be 'an artist' and I have to admit, it has been a bit of an affliction really and I'd like to be cured. Just because you are 'good at painting' at school doesn't mean that you will be able to keep body and soul together as an artist - "far better to have a 'proper career' to fall back on" was my parents advice.... and they were probably right too! However, I did it my way, as the song goes, and I've lived an artists life with much of the bohemian spirit, lots of fun, lots of high points and excitement and lots of disappointments along the way to where I am today with my paintings hanging in various galleries and exhibitions and people's homes. I can't quite complain that I starve in a garret, but my life as an artist hasn't bought me fame and fortune either.............. however, I live in hope!
