Ian Henderson

Location: Winchester, Hampshire
About me...

I feel blessed to have had a long career as a BBC television and radio journalist in the areas of news, politics and sport.  Now retired, I am enjoying a second career reliving my first career by telling people about those varied, sometimes dangerous and always exciting, busy years.

About my talk...

I am a ‘stand alone’ speaker and so I require no props. However, I do have a fascinating archive of photographs spanning the decades of my career, so the talk can be illustrated if an overhead projector is available.

As a ‘stand alone’ speaker I am sought after for After Dinner engagements where the venue and/or the occasion does not lend itself to a visual presentation.

The duration can be tailored to the occasion but will usually last between 45 minutes and an hour.

Fee:

These may vary depending on the distance traveled but I am looking for a basic fee for my local area of £70.00 with travel expenses when the venue is more than ten miles from my home.

As I am based in Winchester I have easy access to the motorway network and am happy to travel east, west or north by car and south to the Isle of Wight (my birthplace) by ferry.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 40 YEARS

During my long career as a BBC television and radio journalist in the areas of news, politics and sport I was fortunate to meet and interview many famous people – among my favourites were the likes of Nelson Mandela, Muhammed Ali and the Duke of Edinburgh – and I’d like to share with you some of my  ‘off the cuff’ moments with them.

Photo:  The 92 year old Patron of the Forty Club, Prince Philip, was in good form at the annual dinner at Lords ….. just as I expected – sharp as a pin!
