James Feaver

Location: Dorset
About me...

As a child I was interested in wild food and foraging, finding edible crabs and lobsters on the Gower coast and picking Elderflower and making drinks with it. Since 2008 I have run a range of foraging courses through Hedgerow Harvest. I also took up truffle hunting and with a dog won the first UK Truffle Hunting Championships. As The English Truffle Company, we find and sell truffles from woodlands across southern England and run unique truffle hunting experience days. I live in Dorset and work full-time on foraging courses and the truffle hunting. I have been on Radio 4 twice (The Food Programme and Gardener’s Question Time) and have spoken at Food Festivals, to WI groups, gardening clubs, Wildlife Trust meetings and Young Farmers Clubs.

We do require a small table for the projector.

Yes, truffles can be found in England and no, I don’t use a pig! These are the two usual questions I get asked. The talk will cover truffle biology, history and species as well as discussing finding, growing and eating them.

The Magic of Mushrooms

A talk by Public Speaker James Feaver -The Magic of Mushrooms

There is far more to fungi than just eating some of them. If you think you know the largest, the oldest living or fastest organisms on the planet, you might be in for a surprise! Their current and future potential uses are stunning. This illustrated talk gives a look into the fascinating fungi kingdom – thrilling, magical, remarkable, and exquisite.
