The History of the NHS

The History of the NHS

Suitable for general interest groups as well as history specific gatherings.
As well as an interesting coverage of the thinking behind the introduction of the NHS, the opposition to it and its development since formation in 1948, there are anecdotes from my 28 years experience of working in various hospitals up and down the country. Humour is never far away and a variety of video clips add further interest.

I Used To Be A Football Referee - But I'm Better Now!

A talk by Public Speaker Jeff Jacklin

Well received by Probus groups and mainly male gatherings the talk covers a range of personal experiences of refereeing in various parts of the country always at the lowest level of Parks and Sunday morning football. Includes the unique tale of refereeing a football match in Broadmoor Hospital involving a team of convicted insane murderers. The talk is very interactive putting the audience in the position of making decisions on flash points in matches shown in video clips. Although it is all about football it covers the humour and people side of the game as much as the technical aspects.
