About me...

I was born and brought up in India, trained as a Fashion Designer in the United States, married my brilliant husband and came to live in England, running a very successful Fashion Boutique for many years, raising thousands of pounds for charity through Fashion Shows. As a young family with two sons, we bought a little ruin in France as a holiday project, which lasted 30 years and had many misadventures along the way.
My great-great grandmother lived through the British Raj in India and was the first Parsi girl to receive an English education and was instrumental in furthering the education of Indian women. She wrote her fascinating autobiography, which I have turned into a biography ‘A Cap for the King’.
Travel has always been a big part of my life and a wonderful journey down the Waterways of the Tsars from St. Petersburg to Moscow is also the subject of one of my Talks, presented in two parts.

About my Talks...

All five talks are light-hearted, amusing and also informative and entertaining.

They are all fully illustrated with beautiful slides.

I can deliver my talks as virtual presentations (zoom)

1: Tales from the British Raj

An entertaining, unusual and light-hearted view of the British Raj through the eyes of a Parsi lady of the Victorian era (my great-great grandmother) and how it contributed to the emancipation of women in India and how she met King Edward VII and the Pope in the era of male dominance. This fully illustrated talk promises to show the Raj in a refreshingly different light, with snippets of hitherto undisclosed history.

2: A Passion for Fashion

An amusing and entertaining adventure of a career in Fashion which started in India and ended up in New York and London. This talk is full of strange stories and incidents and is fully illustrated with colour slides.

This has been particularly popular with Women’s Groups.

3: Buying and Renovating a Ruin in Rural France

A hilarious story of a young family who decided to take on a holiday project which almost took over their lives. Learning to deal with French bureaucracy, Aveyronnais food and the umpteen faux-pas with the language – and making wonderful French friends. This talk is fully illustrated with colour slides of beautiful rural France.
