About me...
I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 2 which was relatively uncontrolled until the age of 20. During these 18 years I went through many tests, different medications and consultants. I also lived a full and ‘normal’ life. Doing things that the normal kids did, climbing trees, swimming, playing rugby, outdoor pursuits. This was mainly down to my parents attitude and bravery and also 1 particular teacher who put his neck on the line for me.
At the age of 20, the experts managed to get the combination and dose of medication correct and I went without a seizure for 11 years, this is also when I decided I was INDESTRUCTIBLE. I increased my rugby playing, solo snorkeled, solo climbed mountains and generally did anything to defy the condition (to the point of putting myself at risk of serious injury). I had a seizure at the age of 31 and stepped up the defiance – took up skydiving, took part in bungee jumping, rode motorbikes to name but a few.
Then, in 2017, aged 42 I had another seizure that could have killed me. Luckily a friend was there to help. I suddenly realized that I’m NOT Indestructible and also went into a period of severe depression…but, 1 month later I was stood 5,500 metres above sea level, looking down over Everest Base Camp.
About my Talk....
My talk lasts between 45 – 60 minutes but can be adjusted to suit your requirements. I can also adapt the course to your audience, would you like to hear more about overcoming adversity, more about extreme sports or more about trekking in the Himalayas. I supply my own laptop and projector, if a wall is available I am happy to project on to that. Questions are invited after the presentation and I will attempt to answer them all. I want you to enjoy my presentation so will try to be as amenable as I can to fit in with your venue and audience.
Fee:
My standard fee is £60 for an evening or daytime talk plus modest mileage expenses if more than ten miles from my base in Rhyl.
