Thankfully at last a biography of David Nixon one of magic’s true gentlemen has been published. With loving care and dedication Eddie Dawes together with Steve Short have put together a truly superb book, brilliantly illustrated and they have every reason to be proud of this one. They have done a wonderful job in providing future generations a wonderful insight into why David was such a pioneer in magic on TV in the 1950’s
‘David Nixon - Entertainer with the Magic Touch’ is a hard backed book 8 ½” x 11”with a great colourful dust jacket and an introduction by Sir Norman Wisdom OBE. The book, nearly an inch thick contains 276 pages and 24 chapters with over 200 ? wonderful photographs both black and white and many in colour, some never seen before. It is a book that should be on every magician’s shelf, and will make an ideal gift for any occasion.
David was born 90 years ago this year and tragically cut down in life aged only 59. He was always but always a gentleman, a gentle man and an avuncular caring figure. Whether it was on ‘What’s My Line’ or his famous ‘It’s Magic’ and ‘David Nixon’s Magic Box’ series, his charm and easy style endeared him to millions when he entered their homes though their television set.
