About me...

I am a 68 year old retired Quality Engineer who worked for a large engineering company who made transducers for all types of industries.
I am university trained and have been taking photographs for over 40 years and have gained wide-ranging experience on how pictures work.  I am a relaxed type of photographer who loves trying all the different categories of photography that are available. I love to help people who are struggling with the basic fundaments of picture taking. I am approachable and have an easy-going attitude to explaining how camera’s and photos work. My aim is to turn people who take snaps into good photographers.

 

 

About my Talks...

I offer a range of talks from helping people understand their cameras; this covers basics photography right through to getting the best out of visiting and photographing different cities and places.
I also have a range of fun talks on photographs I have taken over the years. All the talks are photography based and come with up to 100 images per talk, time permitting.
I supply my own laptop, screen and projector though I am happy to use in-house equipment when it is available.
I conduct lectures to Camera Clubs, U3A groups, Rotary Clubs, PROBUS groups, Gardening Groups and General Hobby Groups, manly in the East Midlands.
Usually my talks last between 50 and 60 minutes and I also have a longer version for organisations who like a break during the event. However I can tailor any talk to last as long as required.

My Fee is £40 plus modest travelling expenses when more than 10 miles from my home in Forest Town, Nottinghamshire.

Decades of Photography 1899 to 1933: Part 1

Public Speaker Tony Brewer talks about Decades of Photography 1899 to 1933:  Part 1

This lecture is photography based, and comprises of 85 images with a short narrative on each image.

It takes you from 1899 through to 1933; most of the photographs shown are important events in history and most images show recognizable figures. The lecture is to provoke your memory and show how certain events and people dramatically change our history.

No photographic knowledge is required. There will be a part 2 depending how part 1 is received.

THE CAMERA DOES LIE

This talk is a fun lecture where the audience will be asked if the image on the screen is a real photograph or a manufactured photo i.e.  Photoshoped. It consists of 90 to a 100 images and lasts about 80 mins, or I can make it shorter if required. You do not have to be a photographer to enjoy this talk it’s just for fun.

Using Photoshop I will show how the use of post processing programs can greatly improve and enhance your current photographs, I will demonstrate the basics for how Photoshop works.

No photographic knowledge or understanding of Photoshop is required but some familiarity would be a benefit. The lecture will be projected onto the screen via my laptop.
