Dr Robb Robinson
Maritime and British Historian
Robb considerable experience of public speaking to large and small groups on maritime and general history subjects and has spoken to business organisations, institutions, clubs and societies in both this country and abroad. He is from a family which was engaged in the business of seafaring and fishing for generations and has written a wide range of articles and three books on these and other history subjects as well as contributing to a number of academic publications including The Encyclopaedia of Maritime History published by Oxford University Press, the Journal of Transport History and the International Journal of Maritime History. He has also contributed to a number of TV history programmes including; The Worst Jobs in History, The Real History Show, Inside Out and, most recently, Who Do You Think You Are? , Great British Railway Journeys and the BBC 4 Sea Fever Series. His most recent book, Far Horizons: from Hull to the Ends of the Earth is a unique blend of global and local history and the biographies it contains encompass much of the world and all forms of transport.
Recent articles for more popular publications include a six page contribution to the January 2011 edition of the BBC History Magazine (the country’s largest selling history magazine) on the North Sea trawling fleets and also the Dogger Bank Incident which involved the Russian Baltic Fleet and also for the Who Do You Think You Are magazine. Robb also wrote an article for the summer 2010 Ocean View Cruise magazine on Amy Johnson and her epic flights across the world. WWW Publications:
